The number of aligners varies from person to person because everyone has different needs, and your treatment is tailored specifically for your smile.

Dr. Schmitt then sends your case to an Invisalign lab that customizes your aligners based on her treatment plan.

2. Wear Your Aligners 22 Hours a Day

When your aligners are ready, we’ll schedule an appointment for you to pick up the first sets. Your goal is to wear the aligners for 22 hours a day, removing them as needed for meals and oral hygiene. You can take them out for longer periods but remember that the longer you wear your aligners each day, the sooner you’ll make progress and complete treatment.

Wear each set of aligners for two to three weeks or as instructed by Dr. Schmitt, then switch to the next set. We’ll see you approximately every six weeks to check on your progress and give you your next sets of aligners.

3. Wear Your Retainer and Smile!

You finish treatment when you’ve worn all your aligners, and your smile is straight and beautiful. To maintain the results, you need to wear a retainer as prescribed by Dr. Schmitt. This is a crucial part of Invisalign treatment because your teeth are always moving and can quickly revert to their crooked position without a retainer to prevent shifting.
